Job Overview and key duties:

This role will be responsible for ensuring safe and smooth production operations in accordance with company/plant policies, procedures and objectives. Additionally, this role will manage and answer for all aspects of maintenance and manufacturing operations.

Reporting to the Plant Director, this is a demanding role for an ambitious and dynamic leader with drive, determination, and the desire to work in a highly commercial and growth-focused environment.

This role will provide leadership for the operations function on the site and ensure effective delivery of the site business plan targets. They will set the culture, improve compliance and drive continuous improvement in all aspects of the business in order to deliver year on year step changes in performance.

The successful candidate will:

  • Oversee and direct daily activities of operations and maintenance personnel, consistent with the policies and objectives of the company.
  • Manage, analyse, and communicate production data and metrics.
  • Identify and manage continuous improvement projects as well as preventative maintenance programs.
  • Ensure that daily production reporting into the ERP System (IFS) is accurate, timely and consistent with the production scheduled.
  • Monitor manufacturing performance and results; Identify, suggest, and execute corrective actions to minimise costs, eliminate material shortages and reduce deviations from the production schedule.
  • Oversee the maintenance of production equipment and tools to maximize plant productivity and efficiency.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive equipment and tool maintenance program to reduce unplanned downtime and repair expenses.
  • Implement and carry out the Company’s Quality Policy with a focus on customer’s expectations, problem prevention, and continuous improvement resulting in improved results for themselves, customers, and the company.
  • Actively support and participate in quality, safety, and process improvement activities and initiatives.
  • Actively support and participate in company change programmes and take a common-sense approach to encouraging operational transformation.
  • Manage, train, and motivate direct and indirect reports to enhance a proactive culture.
  • Visible champion of the values, engages and motivates teams to delivers results.
  • Play a proactive role as a member of the site leadership team, supporting the development of the site short term strategy.

The candidate:

To be successful as the next Operations Manager you’ll need to be results driven, motivational, organised, analytical and someone who works off using their own initiative and can build relationships at all levels. Other key personal traits which are important for this role include:

  • Thorough knowledge of world class manufacturing methods, techniques, and related equipment.
  • Must be technically proficient to ‘troubleshoot’ mechanical problems with Molds and machinery.
  • Must have complete knowledge of production scheduling and facility operations.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively to all levels of the organization.
  • Strong leadership and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and multitask.
  • Working knowledge of machine, conveyor, and robotic operations
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement skills
  • Related Bachelor’s degree, or Masters Degree in a related field preferred
